The mission of the Hawai’i Conference Foundation is to provide faithful and fruitful stewardship of the purposes and powers entrusted to it by the Hawai’i Conference United Church of Christ.

Hawai’i Conference Foundation Executive Director
Sherman S. Hee is the Hawai’i Conference Foundation Executive Director.  As a member of Community Church of Honolulu and a member of the Hawai’i Conference Foundation’s Property Management Committee, Sherman brings an understanding of the diverse mission needs of the Hawai’i Conference and experience with seeing that those needs are met. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the United Church Insurance Company for many years.
Sherman’s 40 years of experience in the areas of insurance, banking, real estate and business development provides the diverse background required for this position.

Hawai’i Conference Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees of the Foundation is made up of eleven people elected by the Conference Council (three Conference Council members, four people nominated by the Board of Trustees, and two people nominated by the Conference Council), the Conference Minister, and the Conference Council Chair.

Church Endowment Funds
The Hawai’i Conference Foundation manages endowment funds for the benefit of the Hawai’i Conference and its Churches.

At present, there is no minimum amount needed to start an endowment fund. Trustee Approval is only needed to start a new fund. For more information, contact Sherman Hee, Executive Director, or Diane Weible, Associate Conference Minister for Stewardship.

Investing Church Money: Custodial Accounts
The Hawai’i Conference Foundation can assist churches with their long term investment needs. Hawai’i Conference United Church of Christ Churches, Associations and Affiliated Organizations are eligible to use the investment services of the Hawai’i Conference Foundation. By opening a Custodial Account your church funds may be invested along with the endowments of the Hawai’i Conference.

Investment Performance
The Hawai’i Conference Foundation measures its investment performance against established market indices. Investment results are reviewed on a quarterly basis.

Loans to Churches
United Church of Christ Church Building and Loan Fund assists new congregations with the purchase of land and financing of construction of their first building. Click here for more information.

Existing Congregations may borrow from the United Church of Christ Cornerstone Fund. Individuals and churches may also invest with this Fund. Click here for more information.
