UCC Launches Oklahoma Aid

In the wake of a deadly and devastating tornado Monday night in Oklahoma that killed dozens and injured hundreds, the United Church of Christ is offering prayers and has issued an appeal for funds for assistance.  Gifts may also be given through your local congregation, which will be forwarded to the Hawai’i Conference for Wider Church Ministries. Jonathan Pak began as Interim Minister at Lili’uokalani Protestant Church on May 1. The Rev. Pak most recently served as Associate Pastor of Kawaiaha’o Church. Wally Fukunaga has resigned as Interim Minister of Pearl City Community Church.  His last Sunday was May 19.

Manikis Sonis, Pastor of ACH (Chuukese) Congregational Church, died May 12 at the age of 62.  The ACH Church has been in the process of becoming a congregation of the United Church of Christ.  Services will be held on Saturday, May 25 at 12 p.m. at Kalihi Baptist Church (1888 Owawa Street, Honolulu) with public viewing following the service.
