HCUCC Feasibility Study Executive Summary
In August 2021, the Hawai‘i Conference of the United Church of Christ (HCUCC) and the Hawai‘i Conference Foundation (HCF) partnered with CCS Fundraising (CCS) to conduct a feasibility and planning study to explore the possibility of launching a capital campaign.
Between October and December 2021, the CCS team engaged 58 members of the Hawai‘i Conference United Church of Christ community in strategic conversations. As a complement to that work, CCS also conducted a broader electronic survey that resulted in a further 164 responses from clergy, laity, volunteers, board members, and friends of the Conference. These conversations sought information on the general perceptions of HCUCC including strengths and weaknesses, reactions to the proposed campaign plans, advice on campaign planning, and personal interest in participating should a campaign progress. Responses were both informative and encouraging. Informed by this feedback, Conference and Foundation leadership and respective boards are reviewing the campaign planning study recommendations from CCS and engaging in strategic conversations to inform the path forward. These plans will be shared as they develop. HCUCC Conference Minister David Popham and HCF Executive Director Andrew Bunn extend their gratitude for the support of our Conference and for those who participated in this critical and illuminating process.
