Hawai‘i Island Association gathers for spring mokupuni

On Saturday, May 6, the Hawai'i Island Association (HIA) met at Hokuloa UCC for their spring 'Aha Mokupuni and were overjoyed to welcome a new congregation into the United Church of Christ, USA! The Association's kahu gathered around Rev. Bensis Henry in prayer and welcome as he and the congregation he pastors, United Church of Christ Pohnpei (UCCP), Hilo, became dual members of both the UCC, USA and the UCC, Pohnpei. UCCP in Hilo worships on Sunday afternoons at Church of the Holy Cross and has been discerning membership with UCC, USA since 2018. Please keep UCCP Hilo and Pastor Henry in your prayers!

Pastor Cara Ann Maeda of Hilo Coast UCC led the worship service, accompanied by Eric Anderson on guitar, to open the day's gathering. It was a wonderful day of fellowship among churches, a time of learning, and a joyous 'Aha Mele following a delicious lunch.
