Queen's Birthday Commemorated at Soldiers Chapel

Queen Lili'uokalani's birthday commemoration was held at Soldiers Chapel at Schofield Barracks in Wahiawa, O‘ahu, on Thursday, September 1. This annual event began in 2015 "to commemorate Lili'uokalani's role in supporting the construction of a chapel for use by the 13,000 soldiers of the newly established Schofield Barracks." The chapel was completed in 1913, just one year before the beginning of World War I. September 2 of this year also marks the 184th anniversary of the Queen's birth. This event is hosted by Stephen's Episcopal Church, Iolani Guild, and the Pacific Justice and Reconciliation Center, with support from the Schofield Garrison and Army Chaplains.
