Contributed by Alan Akana, Kōloa Union Church, Kaua‘i
The Rev. Sarah Lund visited Kōloa Union Church while she was on Kaua‘i with her family. She shared with the congregation about her work on behalf of persons with disabilities and mental health issues. She also thanked the congregation for their generous support to the United Church of Christ, assuring them that their generosity truly makes a difference throughout the world!
Rev. Lund is the Minister for Disabilities and Mental Health Justice for the United Church of Christ. She is also the Senior Pastor of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Indianapolis and Open and Affirming Consultant for the Indiana-Kentucky Conference of the United Church of Christ. She is currently on sabbatical and happened to meet Rev. Dr. Alan Akana, Kahu of Kōloa Union Church, while he was resting in the shade of a mango tree at Po‘ipu Beach on his day off, which just goes to show that rest and renewal for our church leaders pays off in more ways than we realize!
