Update on Red Hill Water Crisis
According to recent news, "The State Department of Health has upheld its order for the U.S. Navy to de-fuel its storage tanks at Red Hill." Until this happens successfully, we can stay up to date and take action to ensure full cooperation and accountability from the Navy.
HCUCC Disaster Ministries Coordinator Danny Tengan, working with Hawai‘i State Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) and the Island Preparedness Group (Ewa Beach), has been coordinating the distribution of cases of bottled water to the civilian residents of Kapilina Beach Homes in Ewa who were affected by the petroleum contamination in the U.S. Navy's potable water system. Members and friends from Central Union Church and Hawai‘i Kai UCC also volunteered to assist in the distribution efforts.
